How Many Years Do Ryobi Batteries Last?

Author: E. Silva (aka Mr. Awesome - The Niche Specialty Expert)

These batteries are made out of lithium – ion, so they are lithium – ion batteries. And that is what you need to keep in mind, first of all. And these types of batteries can range in length of shelf – life, so to speak. But in this page, I want to take a much – closer look at things. So let’s get to it ….

Now first of all, if you regularly use an 18 – volt ( aka 18 – V, as the label itself may say, but that is what it means, he he he he heh ) Ryobi battery, then you can typically expect it to last 4 – 5 full years. That is what the experts say … that is the word on the street, indeed. Now, then, if you take exceptional care of both the battery and the charger, on the other hand, you might expect to surpass that length by a bit … perhaps if lucky, you could go another year or two ( or three, he he he he heh ) past that. Who knows, right? But you must brush, charge, clean, and all in all, maintain the battery to the best of your ability during this time. And you must NEVER ( as I have mentioned time and time again, on other pages here ) leave the battery or its charger in a room / space / spot that’s burning hot or freezing cold. Temperatures considered “extreme” are truly the worst enemies your Ryobi battery could ever have, and it is literally BEGGING you not to leave it there ( especially for longer periods, which, as I have said before, will KILL the battery … yes PERMANENTLY ) .

If you leave this battery fully – charged but do not use it for 2 – 3 years, on the other hand, the charge can still last for that long … which is cool. You can pick it right back up and start using it as before. How convenient, right?

Now if it’s a 4 – volt ( 4 – V, he he he heh ) Ryobi battery, you can expect it to last about 2 – 3 years, especially if you use it a lot. If you don’t use it all the time, and maintain it properly, according to what I’ve just mentioned, you can also hope to extend its life for a bit longer … same rule here, generally speaking. Now keep in mind this battery only lasts about 1 – 2 hours, typically, before you need to re – charge it. So it needs a constant charge, especially if you use it a lot. But like I said, in terms of its overall life, you’re looking at a good year or two.

I hope this has been of help to you. Please make sure to share this with any friends of yours who use Ryobi batteries. Let’s all have a better and longer – lasting battery!
