Best Plasma Cutter For Aluminum
Author: E. Silva (aka ‘Awesome Man’ - The TRUEST Niche Specialty Expert)
For aluminum, you can go with just about any kind of plasma – cutter around. It’s a common misconception that plasma – cutters can’t or shouldn’t try to cut aluminum. But in all reality, that’s just an errant myth. When the truth is told, they can … most can …. you just have to know the right ways to do it as well as have the right materials, and go steady ( no speeding ) as you do this. Watch for safety, consistency, accuracy ….
Now, then, the best one for aluminum? I’d take this one any day —- Hypertherm 088079 Powermax30 XP Building America Edition Hand Plasma System with Case and 15-Feet Lead - - Amazon.com
It comes with 15 - ft lead and its own holding case … dang. Good start …
Plus, it’s also a luxury – priced $ 1,710 ( it’s not some basic, cheap plasma – cutter … that’s for sure ) . The secure and comfortable grip? Now that is worth talking about for awhile …
People love the grip. They love being able to touch and handle a plasma – cutter and feel like they’re in control of something, for once ( and let their hands ride up and down, and gently control the cutting movements without getting too tired or having palms sweat a whole lot …. and grips like these help ) . You grip it once and you feel how nice and cozy it is to touch.
On aluminum, when you cut down, it’s the same … you don’t generally get hard – grinding, annoying whirring motions or sounds, or anything that seems to throw a person off – balance, in the general sense. You get a smooth cut, some sound ( noise made from the cutting, of course ) and that’s about it. Do wear safety glasses in case any pieces of cuts come flying up at ya ( which is still somewhat rare, and aluminum itself can tend to cut very easily, without major issues ) . Now in terms of the material, it’s impact – resistant. It’s made from impact – resistant stuff, all over ( the sides, top, front, back, etc ) … everything …
That is nice to know … and since it’s impact – resistant, keep in mind that this applies itself automatically to aluminum as well … it can resist draw – back and other issues when cutting aluminum and harder metals. Also, it comes with its EHE shields, safety gloves, Fine Cut consumables and so much more. It doesn’t come with batteries. It doesn’t need batteries … ya like that? I like that!
I have cut aluminum in other ways, too ( with and without the Hypertherm plasma – cutter ) . Yet my “best way” to cut it is by ….. every single time … going to my work – shed … and just plugging – up + using this machine. I love everything about it.
